What are the features of Amphora filament?

Durable and Flexible:

Amphora is the ideal filament if you want a more durable print than PLA, flexible like TPU and strong as ABS. It doesn't bend as readily as TPU, but it's flexible enough to withstand much pressure. It is certainly not brittle. Thus an Amphora print will serve a functional purpose beyond looking pretty in a display case.

Finally, Amphora's layer-to-layer adhesion is superior to many other filaments.

It doesn't emit harmful fumes or noxious odours during printing.

ABS has a distinct, unpleasant smell while printing that must be dealt with by ventilating the area where you're operating. The Amphora filament is odour-free. Amphora, according to Eastman, is an entirely styrene-free product, so you may at least be confident that it contains no hazardous pollutants. The printing process with Amphora filament is relatively odourless. However, it might produce microplastics in the air, suggesting that some ventilation is still recommended.

Good dimensional stability

The Amphora is an excellent printer for art. It can produce outstanding results, but there are a few things to be aware of if you want your artwork to last. Because the material heats up at a high temperature, you'll still need to take precautions against warping. It's nothing ordinary - a heated printing bed, a bed adhesion aid, and no cooling on the first layer should do the trick.

On the other hand, Amphora does not warp quite as readily as ABS. As a result, it does not require as high of a temperature setting on the heated bed. It even can turn on the cooling fan by layer 3 or 5 of printing.

Better bridging performance

Amphora's exceptional strength, combined with the ability to turn on a cooling fan in the middle of the print, makes it one of the most reliable bridging materials available. Amphora can reach as far as 15 cm without crumbling when you need to produce overhanging features. However, there is a hard limit of 15 cm before support structures should be used.

FDA-approved for food contact

Amphora is a food-grade type of concrete that has been used since ancient times. It's safe for food contact applications, as it doesn't produce any hazardous chemicals. Despite this approval, we still don't advise using any 3D printed container for long-term or repeated food storage because 3D printing (particularly with FDM) naturally creates a surface finish full of microscopic pores that could harbour bacteria.
