Carbon Capture is an approach to capture, store, transport and use the greenhouse gas CO2. Therefore it helps safeguard against global warming caused by manmade greenhouse gases.
It is a critical technology to reduce the impact of climate change as it allows CO2 emissions from large stationary sources such as power plants and cement factories to be captured, transported and stored or used in industrial processes.
Carbon Capture units enable safe C02 storage underground while avoiding the release of this greenhouse gas into the atmosphere which would otherwise contribute to climate change due to the emission of carbon dioxide. However, the technology associated with C02 Capture and Storage (CCS) offsets its potential environmental benefits since it requires large amounts of additional energy and emits additional CO2 during operations.
