Porter's Diamond Model

Porter's Diamond Model is a framework for understanding the competitive advantage of nations. It was developed by Michael Porter in his book "The Competitive Advantage of Nations." The model suggests that the factors which determine a nation's competitiveness are: firm strategy, structure, and rivalry; factor endowments; demand conditions; related and supporting industries; and chance. The model has been criticized for being too static and not considering how firms can change their strategies to achieve a competitive advantage. However, it remains a useful tool for understanding the cause of comparative advantage. product development is the process of creating new products or improving existing products.
